Jack C. Benjamin provides clients with counsel on a variety of civil matters, including risk assessment and safety procedures. Jack focuses on general liability claims, including industrial accidents, explosions and premises cases, in addition to handling commercial trucking and automobile cases. He has experience addressing OSHA issues and investigations. He also has handled construction cases, product liability claims and a variety of maritime issues. Whether a claim arises on land, or on water, Jack dedicates himself to efficiently addressing the key issues to streamline the process for resolution. He employs a balanced perspective that has been gained from almost thirty years of practicing law in a variety of settings, clerking for a federal judge and working for international companies. He understands the complexities of contracts, indemnity obligations, varying insurance policies and has represented large publicly traded companies and family businesses in simple and complex, multi-party cases. Regardless of the case, Jack approaches all assignments with zealous representation, while acknowledging the importance of maintaining working relationships with counsel and respect for the bench.
Jack is licensed to practice in Louisiana, as well as Texas and has tried cases in state and federal courts and has handled appeals before the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Louisiana appellate courts.
Jack has completed the requisite training hours to earn the distinction as a certified mediator by the Louisiana State Bar Association. Using the unique skills he acquired from the Mediation Institute and his many years as a litigator, Jack is called upon by colleagues to assist parties reach a compromise. Jack also has served on the faculty for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA)’s Gulf Coast Deposition Skills program.
Jack maintains Martindale-Hubbell’s highest Preeminent AV rating with a 5.0/5.0 peer review rating. Jack has been included in the 28th and 29th Editions of The Best Lawyers in America. He also has been selected as a Louisiana Super Lawyer for more than ten years. Each year, no more than 5% of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.
Jack’s extra-curricular activities have included leadership positions on many civic, religious, and professional boards. He is a former Secretary for the Metropolitan Crime Commission. Jack is married to Jennifer Hanley Benjamin and enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children.
