Laura Mayes was raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from York College of Pennsylvania in 1999, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, along with minors in Speech Communication and English. Ms. Mayes subsequently moved to New Orleans and earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law in 2003.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Mayes moved to Baltimore, Maryland and worked for local defense firms handling products liability, asbestos, and toxic tort cases in Maryland and Washington D.C. Ms. Mayes also worked for the Washington D.C. office of national insurance defense law firm litigating medical, nursing home, and professional malpractice cases.
Since earning admission to the Louisiana State Bar, Ms. Mayes has represented clients in both state and federal courts in Louisiana. Ms. Mayes has litigated numerous insurance defense cases involving trucking accidents, construction defect claims, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability claims, products liability cases, general civil litigation, and insurance coverage issues.
Ms. Mayes is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and also has been admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana. Ms. Mayes is currently a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Laura has also been selected to the Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Stars List for 2019.
Laura resides in New Orleans with her husband, Justin, and their daughter, Felicity.
