Mike Monsour was raised in both Louisiana and Mississippi prior to college. In his undergraduate studies at Ole Miss, Mike completed dual business majors in Managerial Finance and Insurance/Risk Management along with a minor in English. After graduation, he lived on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for several years working in the private sector and the federal government as a licensed insurance underwriter and financial analyst, respectively. Additionally, he was a member of both the Louisiana and Mississippi State Societies of Washington, Habitat for Humanity, and Toastmasters among other philanthropic and civic organizations of the Washington, D.C. Metro area.
In May 2009, Mike earned his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law while also attaining a Civil Law Studies Certificate. While in law school, he served as the Philanthropy Chairman for the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and studied abroad in the United Kingdom as part of the Tulane Law School London Program. In 2007, he was formally recognized by the Louisiana Supreme Court for his legal services as a law student volunteer to Louisiana citizens affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Before joining Perrier & Lacoste, he worked for a local defense firm where he handled a diverse book of business. Mike’s specialty is in insurance litigation, primarily in matters involving transportation, automobiles, bad faith allegations, homeowners coverage, premises liability, products liability, workers’ compensation and admiralty and maritime.
Mike is an active participant in several legal associations including the New Orleans Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, St. Tammany Young Lawyers Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel and the American Bar Association. Mike co-chairs several annual events on behalf of the Young Lawyers Section of the New Orleans Bar Association. In addition, he has served as the president of the New Orleans chapter for the University of Mississippi Alumni Association since 2013.
