Mike Monsour was raised in both Louisiana and Mississippi prior to college. In his undergraduate studies at Ole Miss, Mike completed dual business majors in Managerial Finance and Insurance/Risk Management along with a minor in English. In May 2009, Mike earned his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law while also attaining a Civil Law Studies Certificate.
After graduation, he lived on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for several years working in the private sector and the federal government as a licensed insurance underwriter and financial analyst, respectively. Additionally, he was a member of both the Louisiana and Mississippi State Societies of Washington, Habitat for Humanity, and Toastmasters among other philanthropic and civic organizations of the Washington, D.C. Metro area.
Before joining Perrier & Lacoste, he worked for a local defense firm where he handled a diverse book of business. Mike’s specialties are in insurance litigation, primarily in matters involving transportation, automobiles, bad faith allegations, insurance coverage, premises liability, products liability and workers’ compensation.
Mike is an active participant in several legal associations including the New Orleans Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, St. Tammany Young Lawyers Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel and the American Bar Association. Mike co-chairs several annual events on behalf of the Young Lawyers Section of the New Orleans Bar Association. He served as the president of the New Orleans chapter for the University of Mississippi Alumni Association from 2013-2016 and remains active on the board of directors. He is also a board member of the Southeast Louisiana Council – Boy Scouts of America Pillars of Scouting.
Mike resides in New Orleans with his wife, Virginia, and their daughter. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys traveling, golfing and spending time with his family.
