Brian Gilbert is a native New Orleanian with thirty-three years of trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts. Brian routinely litigates multi-party, complex matters involving a variety of practice areas including General Liability Defense, Automotive and Common Carrier Defense, Medical and Nursing Malpractice Defense, Construction Litigation, Personal Injury Defense, Insurance Defense and Coverage, Commercial Litigation, Civil Rights Litigation Defense, Governmental Liability Defense, Admiralty and Maritime Litigation, Innkeeper Liability Defense, Merchant Liability Defense, Products Liability Defense, and General Civil Litigation.
Brian graduated from Loyola University School of Law in 1991, earned a political science degree from the University of New Orleans in 1988, and graduated from Isidore Newman School in 1982. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, and has practiced before numerous state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels, including the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi (PHV), the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the District Courts of Harris County, Texas, and the Tenth Judicial Circuit, Jefferson County, Alabama.
Brian has litigated admiralty and maritime cases in the state and federal courts concerning maritime insurance issues, collisions and allisions, wharfinger and terminal operations, and personal injuries and death of seamen and others on rigs, and on commercial and recreational vessels.
He is also well experienced in medical and nursing malpractice litigation, having successfully represented various state and “qualified” healthcare providers at the medical review panel phase and beyond, including doctors, medical students, nurses, clinics, hospitals, and nursing facilities.
He maintains affiliations with the New Orleans Bar Association, Greater New Orleans Defense Counsel, DRI Medical Malpractice Lawyer Network, Insurance Coverage Network, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, and the Construction Lawyer Network.
Brian was born in Okinawa, Japan, and resides in New Orleans. He has two children in grade school. His pastimes include cooking, gardening, and music.
